Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?
I am the Marketing & Communication Manager for the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. I am able to promote the best parts about the wonderful city of Oshkosh, the “Event City” of Wisconsin, you know! I have been able to grow my network with big corporations and mom & pop shops! I work closely with our members to understand their goals and how the Chamber can assist. Plus I manage Propel Oshkosh, a young professional’s organization, so I get to meet the most amazing and inspiring YP’s in my city! There is nothing better than that.
How long have you lived in your city & what brought you here?
I moved to Oshkosh with my family as a 6th grader and have pretty much lived here ever since. I attend Carthage College, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, but ventured back to Oshkosh after graduation. I found a new love for this city. The amazing people, the events, and the overall feel it what keeps me around. It truly is the best city on earth (okay, I’m a little bias)
What do you love most about your city?
The best part about Oshkosh is that there is ALWAYS something to do! As the “event city” of Wisconsin, we host over a 1,000 events annually. These range from non-profit benefits and fundraisers to world-class festivals! I am always on the go! If you can’t find something to do here, you aren’t looking hard enough!
What local restaurant is at the top of your list?
Becket’s is by far my husband and my go to spot! It is right on the river that runs through Oshkosh, so the view is great. More importantly the food is to die for and the beer selection is always top-notch! (I mean, we are talking Wisconsin here!) If you ever get the chance, be sure to get the potato croquette!
What is your biggest hope for your city?
With one of the states best Universities right here, I would love to see more young professionals staying in Oshkosh after graduation. I don’t feel like the students truly get to experience all that Oshkosh has to offer doing their four (okay, maybe five for some) years here. While the campus is near downtown, many students do not take the time to invest into the city and truly understand what Oshkosh is all about.
What is your city’s favorite tradition?
You can’t think of Oshkosh without talking about EAA’s AirVenture. While I know it’s cliche, this truly is what showcases Oshkosh! Oshkosh has nearly a half a million people throughout the week for this one event. People from all over the world travel to Oshkosh to spend the week learning about aviation and many take the time to explore Oshkosh as well.
