Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?
I recently started as Chief Financial Officer for Colliers International – Wisconsin. What makes this company awesome is the people. Fun, energetic, and ethical come to mind. What makes my role remarkable is that I get to see all aspects of a full-service real estate firm in a growing southeast Wisconsin real estate market. Another benefit of my role is the fact that I have the opportunity to engage with many different individuals across all service lines. I am able to collaborate with many to improve process and establish financial goals.
How long have you lived in MKE & what brought you here?
I grew up in the Madison area and went to UWM on a swimming scholarship and a great business school. I fell in love with MKE. The east side has such a great feel to it and was a fun college experience. Once I got to know the city I didn’t want to leave!
What do you love most about MKE?
That has to be Milwaukee’s hidden resource – the water. As a kid my parents would have to drag me away from the lake, whether we were fishing, swimming, or just enjoying the scenery. Milwaukee’s harbor is beautiful in summer and most people rarely get to see it. I’m lucky enough to enjoy the view every day from my office the 833 East office tower.
What is one word that you would use to describe MKE?
Unique. Milwaukee has all of the amenities of a big city with a small town feel. The city provides many summer lakefront festivals, restaurants, hang out spots and boutiques most of within walking distance of each other.
What is your biggest hope for this city?
I think there’s an abundance of jobs that are going to be available, so my biggest hope is that these jobs are filled with folks with solid midwestern work ethics. I’d love to see a hard-working middle-class that breaks down barriers of diversity that helps with crime and violence issues the city continues to work on.
What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?
We moved to Pewaukee a year ago and I love the neighborhood and sense of community. My kids enjoy playing with the neighbor kids and all the amenities you can possibly need are very close by.
What do you think is going to be a game changer for the city in the year of 2017?
The Bucks Arena District is monumental for a continued downtown revival. The team has a ton of potential right now on the court and it’s going to be great to have some momentum behind them in a beautiful new arena. Giannis for MVP!
