In 2011, NEWaukee moved its headquarters into the lower level of the Grand Avenue Mall. Our focus on the revitalization of West Wisconsin Avenue has changed over time, but we are committed to helping the return of the once Grand Avenue.
We’ve hosted several programs throughout the years to inspire a collision of all West Wisconsin Avenue has to offer.
Night Market: a free open-air market that offers a wide variety of experiences for people of all backgrounds and ages. The Night Market features a mash up of art and craft vendors, technology installations, food trucks/carts, live art creation, performances, local music and a beer garden that supports local art organizations. The goal is to create a free, vibrant, safe and interactive place in downtown Milwaukee for people to experience culture at night.
Empty Storefront Conference: a day-long conference that focuses on holistic solutions, national trends, best practices, and success stories that lead to action plans and spark ideas to fill empty storefronts. The Empty Storefronts Conference features national and local speakers that have implemented practices and tactics in their own communities and across the country to address vacant storefronts. The inaugural Empty Storefronts Conference is hosted in storefronts and neighborhoods across Milwaukee, including the Grand Avenue Mall.
Art Jamboree: an awe-inspiring combination of over 12 different mediums of art in obscure and curious locations. The Art Jamboree is loud, interactive and makes art fun, social and approachable.
