NEWaukee’s 6th Annual Urban Island Beach Party
What says summer in Milwaukee more than live music, pink flamingos and a pig roast!
The Urban Island Beach Party is an annual fundraiser for the Friends of Lakeshore State Park. An afternoon full of music, kayaking, a pig roast, dance performances and so much more showcase all that the park has to offer. In it’s 6th year, the Urban Island Beach Party aims to raise funds and awareness towards the Friends of Lakeshore State Park’s Sustain and Maintain campaign.

Find A Flamingo Contest
In the week leading up to the Urban Island Beach Party, look for the pink flamingos we have hidden throughout the city. Tip: We will be hiding the flamingos in and around the Downtown Employee Appreciation Week programs! Find one and bring it with you to the island to receive a free beer provided by Leinenkugel Brewing Company. Starting July 25th, 2016 we will place inflatable flamingo’s all around Milwaukee. If you find the flamingo bring it to the island to flock us. There are over 100 flamingos that will be around the island.
1. Find the flamingo
2. Take a picture and upload it to Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #UIBP or upload it to the Urban Island Beach Party Facebook Event
3. Bring the flamingo to the island party in exchange for a free beer to create a flock in the Beer Garden.
We are so grateful to our sponsors of the Urban Island Beach Party. Their gracious support allows NEWaukee to highlight the Friends of Lakeshore State Park, an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting Lakeshore State Park for the entire community to enjoy.
The park provides a unique urban oasis with recreational opportunities and amenities for all to enjoy. The 17-acre park includes a lakeside trail that connects to the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf state trails. A 130-foot bridge connects the north end of the park to the Summerfest grounds and an extension of the land near the Marcus Amphitheater connects the south end.
Getting to Lakeshore State Park
The Park is located in and along Lake Michigan east of the Summerfest Grounds and south of Discovery World.
