True North: Cultivating Your Power

in partnership with Summerfest

Yoga | Meditation | Self Defense | Music


Aurora Health Care proudly partners with Summerfest to present a new wellness half-day program called True North: Cultivating Your Power on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Set in the beautiful Urban Park adjacent to the north entrance of the Summerfest grounds, the morning workshop explores yoga, meditation, self defense, healthy eating and local music. True North emphasizes the connection between mind, body and spirit and the ways fueling each leads to confidence, empowerment and a healthy lifestyle. The program is open to beginners curious about exploring mindfulness as well as advanced practitioners eager to join the group. The schedule for True North is as follows:

8:30AM | Registration, networking, coffee, tea and juice sampling from the Juice Kitchen

9:00AM | Yoga led by Meg Vetting
Move mindfully through traditional Surya Namaskara A & B sequences, keeping focus on breath and creating awareness around the energy that is moving through the body.

9:35AM | Guided Meditation led by Meg Vetting
Practice creating an internal dialogue, understanding the alignment of the physical and esoteric bodies.

9:45AM | Self Defense led by Aurora Health Care
Experience a broad range of topics as it relates to empowerment, staying safe and positive self-talk. 

10:30AM | Dance Party with DJ Annalog and Health Snack Bar

11:00AM | Program Conclusion

More About Meg Vetting 
Meg Vetting is an experience, registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500), yoga alliance continuing education provider (YACEP) and wellness consultant. She completed her training in classical yoga and philosophy at Samadhi Center for Yoga and Meditation in Denver and her 500 hour certification in Ashtanga with the Himalayan Yoga Valley Centre in Goa, India. She currently teaches community classes, workshops, retreats and yoga teacher training in the bay view neighborhood. For more information, please visit:

Is there a fee to attend? No! This program is free and open to the public; however registration is required. Follow the link above to RSVP.

Do I have to be advanced in yoga or self defense to attend? The program is open to beginners curious about exploring mindfulness as well as advanced practitioners eager to join the group.

What should I bring? Yourself! Dress in comfortable workout clothing and bring a yoga mat as well as any yoga props you prefer while you practice.

Where should I park? There is street parking along Harbor Drive, Michigan and Clybourn Streets. There is also paid parking in the O’Donnell Parking Structure.

Where exactly we be exercising? The Urban Park offers an expansive grassy region for us to use. Note the ground is uneven and natural.

Where is Urban Park? The grassy area just north of the north entrance to Summerfest and east of Discovery World.
