The evening will kick off with some networking with Aurora Health Care’s top executives and a keynote by Dr. Nick Turkal.

nick-turkalPresident and Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit health care system based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As CEO, he is responsible for overall strategy and direction for one of Wisconsin’s leading integrated health systems and its largest private employer, with more than 33,000 employees. Dr. Turkal holds true to certain core beliefs that help guide his decisions:

Carrie Donovan
Senior Vice President, Finance – Revenue Cycle Operations
Carrie Donovan has been with Aurora Health Care since 2010. As senior vice president, finance for revenue cycle operations, she has oversight of revenue cycle operations for a fully integrated health care system with net revenue exceeding $5 billion. She also oversees implementation of system enhancements and new technologies intended to improve revenue cycle performance.

Carrie previously serviced as senior vice president of medical group operations for Aurora, with oversight and accountability of services in her geography including hospital, medical group, pharmacy, and home health service lines. Prior to joining Aurora, Carrie was vice president of medical group operations for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

Dave Fergus
Senior Vice President, Supply Chain

Dave Fergus joined Aurora Health Care in 2014. As senior vice president, supply chain, he leads the supply chain and clinical engineering divisions, with areas of focus including strategic sourcing, distribution and logistics operations, capital acquisition and maintenance as well as non-labor analytics.

Dave has spent more than 20 years working with various health systems and corporations on supply chain operation and financial improvement initiatives. During this time he held VP roles for a seven-hospital university based health system and a Fortune 500 organization. He also led an 18-month acquisition, turnaround and divestment of a small wholesale distribution business. Through these positions he has driven over $100 million in annualized financial improvements, served as the consultant manager on an automated sales order configuration solution highlighted by CIO magazine as a leading application and worked with many amazing people.

Dave has an MBA from the University of Iowa. He is actively involved as a member of Amazon’s Health Care Advisory Board and MedSpeed’s Customer Advisory Council.

Karen Gibbs
Vice President of Nursing, Aurora West Allis Medical Center

Karen Gibbs joined Aurora Health Care in 2015. As vice president of nursing at Aurora West Allis Medical Center, she oversees the nursing staff and evaluates the quality of patient care at Aurora West Allis. She previously served as director of nursing for the hospital.

Prior to Aurora, she was a director of nursing and nursing home administrator for Extendicare, where she was responsible for the direction, supervision, budgeting and coordination of the functions of all departments. She was also chief nursing officer of HealthSouth in Montgomery, Ala., where she oversaw nursing, pharmacy, respiratory, radiology, dietician, lab and employee health employees, among others.

She earned her associate’s degree from El Paso Community College, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Auburn University at Montgomery, and her MBA from Walden University.

Robert Raschke
Vice President, Information Technology Revenue Cycle Applications 

Robert Raschke joined Aurora Health Care in 2002. As vice president, information technology revenue cycle applications, he has responsibility for IT strategy as it relates to revenue cycle applications, and the management of budget, resources and staff to support the implementation and maintenance of systems.

In his time at Aurora, he has been accountable for the deployment and support of solutions that support workflows for patient registration, scheduling, radiology, pharmacy, hospital, surgery, emergency room, clinical physician order entry, and HR systems for talent acquisition, payroll and compensation. He has had prior responsibility for a departmental program management office change control.

Robert has more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry spanning provider, payor and life sciences segments. His background includes implementation of clinical systems in more than 40 U.S. health care organizations, a health plan management system for a major HMO, and a health plan outsourcing contract for a 1 million-member HMO.

He is past president of the Wisconsin Dairyland Chapter of HIMSS and member of state-level Epic and Cerner User Groups. He has a clinical Background working as a medical technologist, a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of La Verne in California.
